WISHING STONES

Rub the stone gently as you make your wish.

The more often it is used, the more powerful it becomes.

After making your wish, place the stone near your bed or above a door way.

The stone retains its powers and can be used again and again.

The inspiration for my wishing stones stems from a wee tale i was told years ago. The tale told of the early 18th century traditions off the people living around Rosslyn Glen / Chapel.
When a mother was in labour she would send the men folk away to look for stones from the river bed in Rosslyn Glen. There aim was to find stones whose markings and shape, reminded them off any family member or friend. Once the baby was born the mother would pick a stone and whoever the stone had a likeness to, was the name passed on to the bairn. The stone was kept as a good luck charm or talisman
.

They also have origins in Aettes or eagle-stones, also called gagites. These stones, found in Eagles Nests, were said to have magical Properties.

Hand made in Edinburgh, using Plaster and mixed with Rosslyn Oak, from a tree brought down in the 2000 storms.
